MAAI and a few other Higher Rated Modeling Conventions
After 42 years in the modeling industry, MAAI Inc., a nonprofit membership organization established in 1960. Each year they accompany the “best of the best” from their modeling and acting talent pool to the Big Apple, allowing them the opportunity of a lifetime to be seen in one location by fashion and film leaders from the United States and abroad....
This is the official line from HQ and they have remained as much as possible true to those ideals. But they have no control over the individual modeling schools recruiting for them and charging a fortune in the process.
Even still it is not an easy thing to find bad comments about Modeling Association of America International as opposed to their competitors... so check out their link below and go slow.
Former employees of John Robert Powers/IMTA started IPOP, the new modeling convention started in the last year which is as expensive, if not more expensive, than IMTA. IPOP has apparently replaced IMTA as the major client of John Robert Powers. JRP represented probably 1/3 to 1/2 of IMTA's sales leads (split with Barbizon Modeling Schools and John Casablancas development centers or modeling schools). IPOP, however, a source says, have no idea if their new convention will be a success. Have they set the price too high ($7,000)? Who has 7K nowadays to flush down a convention drain.
